CM COSMOS II Ultra Tower Specs and Features

These days it's all about what's in: A couple of years ago netbooks were the thing, then the Macs came. Now it seems that ultrabooks would be the next "it". Sadly though, none of those can outperform traditional rigs.

I'm a rig man myself. Rigs are powerful, albeit clunky and heavy. You can always add additional cards to slots, replace and remove parts, and of course today's CPU enclosures are all killer.

Speaking of enclosures, I introduce to you the Cooler Master COSMOS II ultra tower: the benchmark for all the enclosures that exist and all that would follow.

First look on this CPU enclosure reminds you instantly of a matte black Lamborghini equipped with a honeycomb grill. If you think about it, the buttons on the topside of the COSMOS II seems to be inspired from a sports car's dashboard. Don't forget the streamlined design—this thing looks like it can go rom 0 to 600 in just 3 seconds.

Hidden behind the front slide cover lies a stack of hot-swappable drive bays. The black interiors provide enough space for oversized XL-ATX System Boards equipped with 4 double width graphics accelerators. A second slide cover on top hides the Advanced Control Panel to manage up to 10 fans and their respective LED lights. The combination of its elegant looks, numerous expansion options and features make the COSMOS II a "Dream Case". That's not to say that this monster won't munch on your electricity bills.

Another fantastic feature of the COSMOS II is all its contemporary design. Clip-on dust screens, car door-style side openings, and a slide-on top cover for the controls. If you know how to mod, you can turn this thing around and make it a suicide door-styled CPU, complete with glowing LED coolants everywhere. That would scare even the best Alienware can offer.

If you're into extreme gaming or demand that your CPU enclosure handle all the peripherals, cards and HDDs you want, the Cooler Master COSMOS II is the perfect fit for it. For Pete's sake you can fit 13 disk drives on this thing, perfect for running servers.

Meanwhile, if you're the type to leave your CPU for days on end without shutting it down, the Cooler Master COSMOS II can handle up to 10 fans. Now that's extreme air circulation for you. Don't forget the 4 channel fan speed control feature.

Another one: Slowly but surely USB 2.0 devices are getting wiped out, the former being replaced by 3.0 technology. Well, the CM COSMOS II features two slots of USB 3.0. So if ever a 3.0 device lands on your doorstep, you can always plug it in without worrying about compatibility. Take note that USB 3.0 technology works like Microsoft Word: 3.0 can read 2.0 devices but 2.0 can't read 3.0 devices i.e. backwards compatibility.

Cooler Master COSMOS II Price and Availability

No word on the COSMOS II's availability and price in the Philippines yet. I bet though that if you'll look hard enough, you can find it in the local scene.

So that wraps it up for this post. Like YouTube user Nefus1988 said, "this is case porn!"

'Till my next installment.
