Nokia 808 PureView Specs and Price in the Philippines

What happens when you combine a point and shoot camera with a Nokia smartphone and soak it in a barrel of steroids? Simple: The Nokia 808 PureView.

The Nokia 808 PureView is a Symbian Belle-based smartphone that sports a heart-attack inducing 41MP Carl Zeiss camera paired with a Xenon LED flash that's guaranteed to take the best pictures out there without you having to actually bring a camera. And apparently that's its biggest selling point—the camera.

The 808 PureView on paper is basically a mid-tier smartphone. The only problem with this phone is its running on a variation of the Symbian OS, which is fine if there were no Androids or WPs around (and then there's the Windows Phone OS issue).

It's a beautiful smartphone don't get me wrong. But with just a couple of new widgets added throughout an almost unchanged OS since its inception, the Nokia 808 PureView is a hard-sell. If it proves otherwise, then I'll gladly admit my mistake.

Nokia 808 PureView Availability and Price in the Philippines

The Nokia 808 PureView is on local Nokia stores now and has an SRP of P26,550.00 in the Philippines (note: SRP). Ninja edit: CMK is selling the Nokia PureView 808 for P24,900.00. That's almost a two grand discount.

Bad news is, due to the phone's limited availability, it's currently experiencing lots of stock-outs. New units are bound to arrive in July. You can also reserve a unit at your nearest Nokia store.

My question to the readers out there: If you have P26,550.00, would you: A) Buy the Nokia 808 PureView because of what it offers; B) Buy a full-fledged DSLR camera or; C) Buy another smartphone with the same price tag from Samsung, LG, Apple, or HTC.

'Till my next installment.
