Globe Updates App Lineup, Offers Free Messaging

Globe Telecom, the nation's second-biggest telco, recently released three new mobile applications focused on making the ever-hectic life of its subscribers easier. The new apps released are GSERVICES, GMOVIES, and GMESSAGE. These services complement the Globe GCASH service.

GSERVICES

Looking for a previous broadband receipt but can't find it anywhere? With Globe GSERVICES, you'll be able to easily locate and retrieve old payments immediately. You can also check your prepaid or postpaid balances and redeem rewards here. Share prepaid credits and register to promos online without logging in to your PC. It basically is your user account on mobile.

GMOVIES

Reserving movie tickets online has been all but hype. But that may just change with the GMOVIES app of Globe.

Imagine waking up in the morning and think "Oh, I want to watch this movie tonight. But I don't want to get up just yet just to power up my PC. Wait, I'll do it on my mobile," and right there and then, have tickets to tonight's showing without going out of bed. The Globe GMOVIES app will allow you to see viewing times of all partner cinemas nationwide and buy and select desired seats without falling in line. This is especially helpful if you loathe long lines on premiere nights.

Use of this service requires a Globe GCASH account or a Globe American Express virtual credit card.

GMESSAGE

You know the WhatsApp app for iOS and Android? The one you have to pay $0.99 for just to be able to use it? Globe just made that app pretty irrelevant, at least for Filipinos.

The Globe GMESSAGE app features free unlimited messaging and more (send photos and videos via the app), provided you have internet connection (WiFi/EDGE/3G). What's more is it's open to all networks. So whether you're a Globe sub, a Smart sub, a Sun sub, or a sub of any other network, you'll be able to message for free. As long as you have an internet connection, no problem.

The Globe GMESSAGE messaging service is totally free, provided parties sending messages to each other are signed-up for the service, are using the service while messaging, and are connected to the internet. Users who send messages using GMESSAGE with an offline/unsubscribed receipient will be charged with PHP0.15. The message will also be automatically converted to a regular SMS message instead.

The scheduled availability of the Globe App Suite on mobile platforms are as follows:

Pretty sweet services from Globe Telecom if I'd say so myself. I personally have three of the four Globe apps installed on my Android (last one not available on Google Play yet). And yes, go fetch GMESSAGE. It's a great substitute for WhatsApp or Viber.
