The big A recently broke the seemingly gagged local telco industry by virtually guaranteeing the release date of the iPhone 5 here in the Philippines, albeit lumped together with 47 other countries worldwide.
iPhone 5 will be available in...December 14...Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. iPhone 5 will also be available on Friday, December 21 in Barbados, Botswana, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Egypt, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Niger, Senegal, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St.Vincent & the Grenadines, Tunisia, Uganda and Vietnam.
Now that that's official, everybody's now scrambling to know what the telcos will bundle this up with. Is it going to have unlimited data for P2,499.00 a month or what? Nobody knows, yet.
Anyway, we're a couple of months behind the original announcement. At least we're getting it the same time as the other 46 countries. Also be prepared for the #GlobeiPhone5 and #SmartiPhone5 hashtag battle. I'll watch from the sidelines. I'm a dual-SIM guy anyway.
