To legitimize the event, Sajid Mehmood of Foursquare flew all the way from New York to Manila to oversee Filipino developers use their skills in code with the theme "It's more fun in the Philippines."

In the day long competition, the "new rockstars" (at least that's what Smart says, devs are the new rockstars) developed ideas and fun apps on different mobile platforms using whichever language they choose provided they integrate it with the Foursquare API. Wacky team names such as Power of Love, Team Hotshots, and Toasted Cracker made the event brighter.
But as with all competitions there must only be one. Judges Sajid Mehmood, Miguel Paras, William Yu, and Dave Quintoriano decided that the best app of the night belonged to Team AAA, a group composed of two young women and one man. Who said coding was a man job?
Winners of the Foursquare hackathon will enjoy P60,000.00 in cash prizes and $4,500.00 worth of software subscriptions.
Attendees of the event were also able to acquire the Smart Live More badge simply by checking in at the establishment. To date, this was only the second time the elusive badge surfaced.
