Windows Phone 7.8 Rolls Out for Nokia Lumia Devices

Lumia users rejoice! Nokia has just rolled out the WP 7.8 update for older Lumia devices. This update brings forth new features -- such as a better graphical interface -- and minor tweaks to the mobile OS.

The WP 7.8 update will be rolled out throughout February in batches i.e. one country may receive the update earlier than others. The company warns, however, that should your device not alert you of an update within 3 weeks (go to Settings > Phone Update > “Notify me when new updates are found” to make sure you'll be alerted as soon as possible), you should contact your mobile operator.

The Windows Phone 7.8 update is being pushed to the Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800, and 900 that is either unlocked or running on a carrier. New retail units meanwhile will be preloaded with the update.

New features include the Windows 8 skin, resizable live tiles, additional lockscreen options, Bing integration, the ability to share via Bluetooth and Internet, and additional apps that aim to bring more functionality to your device such as the Nokia City Lens and Camera Extras.
