Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0 Announced, Cheapest Quad-Core Yet

Arguably the Philippines' number one mobile company, Cherry Mobile silently pulls another one from its sleeves, this time breaking its own record of holding the most affordable quad-core smartphone with just a couple of months difference to boot. People, meet the Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0.

The Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0, announced as a "Junetastic" device this rainy season, is a 5-inch FWVGA Android 4.2 Jelly Bean device that sports a 1.2GHz quad-core MT6589 processor, 512MB RAM, and an 8-megapixel camera. It's price-targeted to the masses (it's under P10,000), and its specs are respectable enough for smartphone enthusiasts to let it slide. It seems decently constructed from the looks of it, but we have yet to learn the effects of a 1.2GHz quad-core/512MB RAM configuration concerning the speed of the device.

Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0 Availability and Price in the Philippines

The Cherry Mobile Thunder 2.0 will gradually roll out in kiosks all over Metro Manila, followed by provinces, these coming days. It will have a suggested retail price of P6,299, seven hundred bucks less than the Flame 2.0.

With the Arc Mobile Nitro 450QD just around the corner sporting a better display (but lesser battery life) and possibly cheaper, what would you rathe: An already established brand, or a new company trying to make a name for itself?
