Google Chromecast Unboxing

We got a hold of the much acclaimed Google Chromecast recently - a $35 dongle that would stream content online straight to your TV (got it at Amazon this past Black Friday using Globe GCash AMEX). This dongle, from a slow start, is now experiencing snowballing demand, thanks to the fast content support by Google. So without further ado, here's the unboxing.

The box itself - both front and back - looks simple and cool. It immediately showcases what apps you can install on it and what you can do with it. I like that most technology leaders are using white boxes and simplistic designs.

Opening the box will immediately reveal the Chromecast dongle, complemented by a very easy-to-follow instruction set on the leaf of the box.

Lifting the dongle panel, you'll find a power adaptor, an HDMI extender cable, and a microUSB to USB cable. The HDMI extender cable is optional and is just there in case the Chromecast dongle would prove a difficult fit in your TV's HDMI port (you'll find this useful in awkwardly-angled HDMI ports). The microUSB to USB cable meanwhile would serve as the power bridge of the dongle, provided your TV also offers a USB slot. If not, then you can attach it to the dedicated power adaptor itself and plug it in a nearby wall socket. (there's also an unusually small manual included in the package).

And here's the Chromecast dongle itself.

As you can see, the jack is gold-plated, while the underneath reveals a few details about certifications and specifications. There's also a LED indicator located at the tip of the device.

And that's it for our unboxing. We'll let you know how it performs and what else you can do with it soon!
