Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL Officially Unveiled

Two of the most anticipated smartphone this quarter has been officially unveiled, the Google Pixel 2 and its larger sibling the Pixel 2 XL. The successor to the original Pixel, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL offer almost identical specifications, the only major difference being is the latter's 6-inch display.

Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL Officially Unveiled

For starters, the Google Pixel 2 sports a Snapdragon 835 chipset, a 4GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage combo, and a single 12.2 MP shooter that dominated the mobile photography landscape so much even before its launch—it beat every smartphone in DxOMark’s camera benchmark charts and shot straight to the top, followed behind by Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 and Apple's iPhone 8 Plus. That and so much more considering it even doesn't sport the now commo dual camera setup.

Display-wise, the Google Pixel 2 also sports an 18:9 display ratio, going Full HD on a 5-inch screen. This is complemented with 2 front firing speakers (think HTC One), an always-on display (think of the LG V10/V20), and the Active Edge technology which allows you to bring up Google Assistant, enabling you to set meetings, take photos, or call other apps after configuration.

Other points of interest is the smartphone's unconventional design factor—something that makes it instantly recognizable from miles away, a fast charging feature, a fingerprint sensor, and a missing—yes, missing—3.5mm headphone jack, just like the newer iPhone models (thanks, Apple!).

Good thing is the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will be available through official channels in the Philippines, but official availability dates are yet to be announced. Pre-order prices start at USD 649 for the Google Pixel 2 (about PHP 33,000), and USD 849 for the Google Pixel 2 XL (around PHP 43,000).
